You think you’re too much
or worse,
you think you’re not enough.
Implying there needs to be
just the right amount
of everything
inside you –
Implying there needs to be
balance
to make yourself seem
whole
complete –
A flawless human being.
But what is enough
and
what is too much?
Where do you draw the line?
Love,
hate,
compassion ,
kindness,
weakness,
heart,
soul.
Please tell me
how much
of each I need to find balance
to be whole
complete –
A flawless human being
or worse,
what must I remove?
Because
excuse me
if I may,
I am what you call
too much
and sometimes,
I feel like I am not enough.
But that’s okay
because I don’t need to be
whole
complete –
A flawless human being.
Because,
I am the tidal waves that crash against the shore too hard
and
the afternoon sun that shines too bright.
I am the time you spend with the ones you love,
(never enough)
I am the moment you have before saying goodbye at airport security,
(gone before you know it).
I am flawed
but I don’t need
to be anyone
other than
who I am.
I am never too much
I am enough.
